Trend Alert: Moped Madness

If my bike commute to work is any sort of litmus test for trends, then the vintage moped is making a comeback.  I’ve been seeing them all over the streets of Manhattan and Brooklyn lately.  Don’t get them confused with those girly Vespas, I’m talking funky, sporty, less curvaceous, macho machines.  So, I found this awesome book Funky Mopeds: The 1970s Sports Moped Phenomenon to help get me up to…speed…on what’s fast becoming the coolest mode of transport.

I also discovered the sweet Shibuya shoe based on Japanese street moped style that brings this new moped culture into the 21st century.  Both make great gifts for the extreme dude or hipster who dreams about riding or actually rides around in style on a vintage moped.

Avril LaVigne’s ‘Make 5 Wishes’ Manga Series

Avril LaVigne has her finger on the pulse (wait, she IS the pulse!) so it figures that she launched her very own manga series. Any pop-loving girl who totally relates to Avril will want to be the first at school to have her hands on one of these!
